Behavior

LAN parties are meant to be fun, and this relies on everyone behaving pleasantly and treating others with respect.

Follow Rules

The majority of events have rules to make sure the party is fun for everyone and runs safely. Ignoring the LAN party's rules is likely to negatively impact others safety and enjoyment, and could get you thrown out, or in the case of drink and drugs, get the event shut down, so respect and follow the rules.

Help Others

If you see someone else struggling or having a bad time, help them out. The LAN's a big shared experience and is always better when everyone's having fun, and helping others out is just the good thing to do.

Consider Others

Closely linked to helping others above, consider others when you do things. If what you're doing is going to cause someone else to have a bad time, don't do it. In contrast, if you can add something to the event by doing something, e.g. starting a game and inviting others to play with you.

Hacking

As discussed in the Security page, being on the same local network as other computers makes it a lot easier to gain unauthorised access to other computers. Have some respect and don't do this. Nobody will be impressed - don't be that person.
